Neil Alexander has said that he’s delighted to see Hearts open their return to the Premiership with a game against St Johnstone but everyone in the camp knows it will be a difficult game.

In quotes carried by the Official Site Alexander explained that all of the players had been relishing the release of the fixtures as it helped make everything about the new season feel real once we knew when and where we would be playing everybody following last season’s Championship title.

‘I`m delighted with the fixture list. Obviously, all the games are going to be tough in this league but it`s a good start for us. Being at home, hopefully with a full, packed Tynecastle, there will be a good atmosphere and it`s a good game that hopefully we`ve got a good chance of picking up three points.’

With pre season the current focus, Alexander went on to say that in his opinion the more games you can play during the build up part of the season is always an advantage as it helps new partnerships, refresh partnerships and allows players to work their way into some good form before the first game that means something cycles round.

Going back to St Johnstone he added that he felt with our pre season schedule so far, whilst a difficult game, we would be ready for them.

‘I`m sure we`ll be well prepared and ready for that first game of the season. They`re all going to be tough games, home and away. St Johnstone had a fantastic season last year and we`re under no illusions that it`s going to be a tough game and a tough season.’
