With Hearts confirming that head coach Robbie Neilson had recently captured Polish defender Blazej Augustyn, the player has now given his first proper interview since signing for the club.

His deal is still subject to international clearance but there’s no expected problems on that score, and speaking to the Official Site in his first proper interview, the player explained that he wanted to hit the ground running and help Hearts up the table in our first season return to the Premiership.

‘I`m happy to be here. It`s a great opportunity for me to play here, in front of thousands of people. Everyone is so kind and I`m happy. The only thing is that I haven`t spoken English for a long time so that`s the one thing that I have to improve quickly!’

Describing himself as a player, he goes on to say he feels he’s very good in the air and an aggressive defender so he’s looking forward to showing his qualities on the pitch to the fans and hopefully coming out on top in a good number of battles.

‘The more experience you`ve got is better for the player. I will try to show my best on the pitch. I will do my best for Hearts. The first things are that I want to get fit, be strong and show all my good things on the pitch. With Hearts, I hope we go to the top six and we do as much as we can.’

The 27 year old was on the books many years ago with English side Bolton Wanderers, so his English should come back pretty quickly now he’s back amongst it.
