Well as long as he accepts the contract offer put to him, which Robbie Nielson has told the Edinburgh News has been offered, then Arnaud Djoum could be a Hearts player within the next 24-hours?

Neilson confirmed last week he wanted to sign another midfielder and with free agent Djoum impressing during a trial he’s been offered a deal with it now down to him to decide what he wants to do.

The Head Coach said.

‘Arnaud came in last week and did really well. He’s a central midfield player.

‘We’ve offered him a contract but it`s up to him if he’s willing to accept the terms we’ve offered. We should find out in the next day or so.’

It was said by Neilson he’s ‘given an indication that he’s keen to come here’ so he’s now talking this over with his family before making the final decision.

The 26-year-old, who wasn’t ever going to feature against Aberdeen even if he had signed ahead of the defeat on Sunday, was offered this deal over the weekend.

Should Djoum come in he could make his debut in the League Cup this week.

Neilson, of course, hopes he will sign as he also said he’s ‘a good player’ with ‘a good CV, good experience and he speaks good English’ that has, which is arguably the most important thing when coming into a squad outside of a transfer window, ‘fitted into the group well.’

Hearts will need international clearance to come through, which can range between a couple of hours to a couple of days!

If he agrees terms today or tomorrow involvement against Kilmarnock in the League Cup is something Neilson seems keen on as the Jambos look to react to the Aberdeen defeat, in fact a run of three straight defeats….
