Hearts striker Dale Carrick has made the loan move to Raith Rovers for the next month in order to help boost his fitness following his return from injury.

He made the move in time to make his debut for the club from the bench in their game at the weekend against Hibernian, and head coach Robbie Neilson admitted the spell was to get him game time and get ‘Speedy’ back sharp.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘It was one of the reasons we put Dale out on loan, to get his fitness back up. He’s struggled a little bit with injury. He got injured in pre season, came back and then got injured again. This gives him a chance to go out and play in five really good games.’

Neilson goes on to add that during his month with them he can take in games against Hibs, Falkirk, Rangers twice and Livingston so he should return in good shape fitness wise, and also hopefully having played himself into some form again.

‘Then he can get himself back 100% for the run in for ourselves.’

Under 20 defender Liam Gordon has also moved to League Two Arbroath on a loan spell until the end of the season to gain experience.
