Celtic Chances Played Down

Hearts warmed up for the Scottish League Cup tie, with a Semi Final place at stake, against Celtic with a win over Ross County at the weekend that made it back-to-back wins in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Callum Paterson and Osman Sow secured the points, despite Blazej Augustyn’s straight red card when he went for a professional foul on Liam Boyce, as he denied him an ‘obvious goalscoring opportunity,’ to see the majority of the second half played with only 10-men.

It’s a win Hearts will take more confidence from, with some momentum being built again, but Robbie Neilson doesn’t feel this makes much difference heading into this Quarter Final as Celtic will still be the ‘huge favourites’ on Wednesday.

This tie, momentum building or not and despite the fact Hearts have home advantage as this is being played at Tynecastle, will be as tough as ever for Neilson with the Head Coach telling the BBC.

‘Celtic are the huge favourites coming here.

‘They have top class international players so we have to be on our game to get anything.’

This isn’t, it certainly shouldn’t, be a game that’s written off – and Neilson isn’t doing this – but he’s right to play thing down.

If the Jambos perform to the true potential I don’t see any reason why Hearts can’t go one better than the goalless draw with Celtic in the Premiership earlier in the season and book a place in the last four at the expense of Ronny Deila’s side!
