Hearts could send out a message of intent upon our return to the Premiership if reports are right as ‘Croat superkid’, as he’s been labelled, Niko Datkovic could join us for around £400,000.
Italian clubs, including Juventus, and clubs in England and Germany have previously shown an interest in the Croatian U21 international but the Daily Record says that we’ll pay Rijeka good money for him.
Danny Wilson needs replacing, with our exiting captain leaving big boots to fill, and Datkovic could be the one to do this?
The reports also say that Craig Levein and Robbie Neilson have both been on a scouting mission to Italy, with him spending this season on loan with Serie B outfit Spezia, and they’ve been impressed enough into making an offer with Ann Budge happy to back such a move….
Another leaving Tynecastle this summer is Jason Holt, which was always likely anyway.
But following his loan spell with Sheffield United, when it had previously been anticipated that this move could become a permanent move, it’s now thought that as much as his time at Hearts is over he’ll not be joining them but he’s interested in moving to England next season, although a stay in Scotland isn’t ruled out.
