Niko Datkovic has been of interest to Hearts for a number of weeks now with reports of an interest first surfacing last month but this isn’t happening it seems due to HNK Rijeka’s asking price.
Reports in the Evening News say an offer was made for the defender, who Director of Football Craig Levein and Head Coach Robbie Neilson had personally been to watch, but with his Croatia club demanding £1m or more we’ll be looking elsewhere.
Datkovic was considered as a perfect summer signing, filling voids left by Danny Wilson and Brad McKay, but talks have broken down and as they stand they’ll not be revived with this a dead deal….
A rethink on the fee that’s being asked for the 22-year-old could see things change, that wouldn’t seem too likely though so we look elsewhere.
