Hearts fans everywhere will be in near disbelief at this move for one half of arguably our most successful managerial duo in many a year. Billy Brown joins Hibs as Colin Calderwood’s number two, with Hibs bottom of the league and looking in need of rejuvination.
Following Derek Adams departure in the summer, Calderwood has had a hard time of things, but fans on both sides of Edinburgh will be surprised by this turn of events. The Hibs website quotes Brown as saying ‘It is a new challenge and a new chapter in my career and I’m looking forward to it – starting with the match at Dunfermline on Saturday.

‘I’ve still got lots of enthusiasm for the game and the ambition to do well – now I want to help Colin (Calderwood) to enjoy success this season.

‘I think Colin has got a good chance of doing well at the club and hopefully my experience can assist him to achieve that goal. I worked alongside Jim (Jefferies) for 23 years and during that time we had a lot of success. When I spoke to Jim about this opportunity, he told me to go for it and that I had his best wishes.

‘There aren’t many jobs in Scottish football more desirable than working for Hibernian.’

What do you make of this of this move by BB? I’m away now to have nightmares about Calderwood being sacked and JJ joining Billy…

Seems BB had “deviant tendancies” as a young footballer, so its probably natural that he’d be keen to have a bash down Leith way, given that he was out of work. And CC was clearly in need of help in the dressing room. Actually PTJ, I think half of your nightmare scenario may well come to fruition – if Hibs don’t start winning soon, CC will be history…. and BB may well find himself in charge. In that situation, I think JJ would be happy to leave him to it though !! The ER dressing room is a poison chalice. More chance of JJ taking on a Director role at Tynecastle now perhaps ?

I had to chuckle at 2 of his comments though – “I want to help Colin (Calderwood) to enjoy success this season.” Er… success… that’ll be staying in the SPL then, Billy ? And this one – “There aren’t many jobs in Scottish football more desirable than working for Hibernian”. Well he’s experienced 4 so far that are more desirable – 4 isn’t that many, I suppose !!

surely he meant to say “There aren’t many AVAILABLE jobs in Scottish football more desirable…” I mean there’s director of common sense at the SFA (I’m positive this role is still vacant) and i heard someone needs a new man to paint the lines around the dugouts. but in at 3 the Hibs number two maybe gets it…!
