Four Is The Magic Number

According to a riddle four is the magic number and four is also the number of new recruits Craig Levein feels Hearts need ahead of the Premiership season as we seek build on last seasons success and of course look to replace those that have left since our Championship promotion.

Knowing that deals can breakdown our Director of Football has made it clear that nothing will be announced, as regards to the registering of players, until it’s done and dusted.

Adam Eckersley, Danny Wilson, Brad McKay, Jason Holt, Genero Zeefuik and James Keatings have all left Tynecastle this summer but we’re not expected, and we shouldn’t expect, a mass influx of players.

Taking to twitter though Levein explained that four is the number of players Robbie Nielsen is looking to add to the squad.

‘Football department working hard to improve the squad. Four new players required.

‘Until players are registered we won’t announce anything. Deals can fall apart up until then.’

Queen of the South striker Gavin Reilly should sign with moves for Nigerian and Croatian international duo Juwon Oshaniwa and Niko Datkovic, respectively, both mooted but as yet we’ve seen nothing with Datkovic seemingly unlikely due to the asking price.

Players for the future, and not just the ‘here and now’ are also being sought with five players for the Development squad sought with Alloa Athletic’s 16-year-old Russell McLean the first signed.

On this signing, quoted in the Scottish Herald, Neilson added.

‘Russell is a good size, he’s got good feet and is a good finisher – and he’s got a great attitude as well.

It is a good opportunity for him to come in and work hard, and hopefully play a part with Hearts.’
