Hearts’ Miko Out For Two Months

Hearts winger Saulius Mikoliunas looks set to be on the sidelines for around two months with damaged knee ligaments.

Miko sustained the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over St Mirren in Paisley, when he took the full force of a block by Saints defender John Potter whilst trying a shot at goal.

This has left him with a pretty nasty knock, and is one that will likely need to be given significant time to heal too.

Manager Csaba Laszlo had this to say about the injury:

‘He (Miko) struck the ball and his leg was blocked and this is what caused the injury.

‘I don’t know at the moment if he will need an operation, we will speak to the doctors.

‘The knee is swollen and we will talk more today after the MRI. We don’t know exactly how long he will be out but he has a serious injury, definitely, and he cannot play.’

This is tough luck on Miko, who had for me been having a pretty decent season, especially given the treatment that he regular takes from opponents and match officials alike. Here’s hoping that he makes a speedy recovery and is able to come back into the first team squad to continue his decent form after the turn of the year.

I think it is a real shame as I thought he finally had started to show some consistency. I like his fieriness and passion, which I think makes up for some of his lack off finesse at times. Hope he has a fast recovery!
