We’ll see some Brazilian flair at Tynecastle this season with Igor Rossi Branco brought in as the next Hearts signing, probably not the defender we expected – that’s one we’re still waiting on.

Branco has been confirmed as a Hearts player on a one-year contract, whilst a former Jambo Jason Holt is now officially a Rangers player after a compensation fee was agreed.

The extensive scouting network we have enabled us to bring in the Brazilian, who actually holds dial Brazilian and Italian nationality, from Maritimo in Portugal with him telling the Official Website he’s been impressed with us. As he was the fact we finished so far ahead of Rangers, and others, in the Championship last season.

‘I believe that John Murray and the Hearts scouting network brought me to the attention of Craig Levein and he in turn watched a lot of footage of me with Robbie then we had a meeting and here I am.

‘I had seen Scottish sides in Europe, particularly Celtic and the Scottish national side and when I was aware of Hearts` interest I read up quite a bit about them and saw that they won the league by a huge margin over Rangers so I was very impressed.’

A chance to live in Edinburgh, which he says he’s already been researching – more importantly the wife’s happy too, is something he looks forward to with the vision of the club Neilson had sold to him with this a challenge he’s ready for.

What can we expect from him? He added he plays with aggression and, as most Brazilian’s do, he likes to play football and wants to score goals.

‘I am a leader, I play aggressively and with a lot of passion and I like to have the ball at my feet and play from the back. From what I have seen this is the Hearts way. I’m also hoping to score some goals as I’m good in the air.’

As long as he’s not a David Luiz who can’t defend for toffee, us having a ball playing central defender, who likes to score, sounds most impressive!

Going back to Holt, a development fee with Rangers needed to be agreed and this was something that happened on Wednesday with both clubs confirming this with him now a player for them, and good luck to him.
