Hearts look set to sign Belarus international Vyacheslav Hleb by the end of the month.

The player’s representatives met with Vladimir Romanov over the weekend and the deal has now been agreed to bring the brother of Arsenal’s Alex Hleb to Tynecastle.

This move has been talked about for some time, but various issues including work permit complicatons have prevented it going ahead sooner.

I can’t say I’ve seen much of Hleb in action, but those who have are giving me some positive feedback, saying that he’s a very quick player who likes to run at defenders. He sounds quite similar to
his brother actually, so if we have a player who’s anything like that then we’ll have gotten ourselves a potential gem. Here’s hoping…..

Apparently he is more naturally talented than his brother, so with any luck he should be a gem of a signing. Or he could turn out to be another Pinilla. In any event, he’s being signed to Hearts (rather than a loan deal) so it bodes well for the club.

I’ve seen pretty impressive clips of him. If he turns out anything like that then we’ll have a good signing here.

I hear that he’s more of a striker than his brother, which is good because we’ve signed enough right-sided midfielders in the recent times! Looking forward to seeing him..
