Hearts To Persist With Nade

Hearts look set to stick with Christian Nade in attack for this weekend’s tricky-looking fixture at Aberdeen.

Despite Nade’s indiscipline against Dundee United contributing to his side’s inability to break the deadlock in that game (Hearts had to play for more than an hour without a recognised striker on the park), manager Csaba Laszlo will reportedly give the Frenchman the chance to redeem himself against the Sheep, if for no other reason than the fact that he’s not really got any alternatives!

In the absence of a proper replacement for Nade (Jamie Mole evidently doesn’t count!), David Obua came on for the subbed striker against United despite his predominant position being midfield, but even if Csaba wanted to stick with him at Pittodrie he now can’t because he’s injured and possibly will be for the entire festive programme. Aside from Mole, who is clearly well down the pecking order, Hearts also have Mike Tullberg and Juho Makela injured, while Calum Elliot is still out on loan. It’s not exactly a ‘spoilt for choice’-like situation for Csaba is it?!

Meanwhile on the subject of Nade, his former manager at Sheffield United Neil Warnock will not be following up his reported interest in him after conceding that his current club Crystal Palace have no money to spend on players at the moment.

Warnock apparently had a £300,000 bid for Nade turned down by Hearts in the summer and many were expecting another bid in January, but Palace manager, one of the more colourful characters in the English game, admitted it won’t be happening. He said:

‘I like him (Nade) as a player but we’ve got no money.

‘The chairman is trying to sell the club so I don’t see anything happening. We’re playing the kids at the moment.

‘That’s the way it will remain until the club is sold, so we just have to get on with it. I don’t think we are the only club in this sort of position.’

He’s not wrong!

As you say – not much choice really !! By the way, on another topic, have any of you seen that photo on the HMFC website – news page – against the story “Palazuelos takes the positives”. Is Ruben a grotesque giant, or is Flood a garden gnome ? Or have “our friends at SnxPix” been using Photoshop again ?

I fail to see the point in having Mole on the bench if there’s clearly no intent on using him even in dire straits – we’re just limiting other options. Who knows what Lazslo thinks of the reserve/youth strikers but can’t we put one of them on the bench instead? And Ruben does indeed appear to be some sort of gigantor!

Well….as discussed elsewhere, it’s clearly the season of comedy!
