Is Robbie Simply Raising The Standards?

I’m not sure how to interpret Robbie’s reasoning for letting Keatings and now Carrick go – “he wants to play every week and we can’t guarantee that.” Wouldn’t most managers say that about 80% of their players?

Are we to assume that Robbie reckons he’s not good enough to be one of the top 2 strikers?

You could argue that as long as he keeps bringing in strikers from outwith the academy, then home-grown youngsters will always struggle to make it.

Good to see Lockie giving Carrick a chance though – it would be embarrassing for us though if he blossoms into a good Premier League striker at Killie !!

I guess we have to trust that Robbie is simply raising the standards at the club, in terms of the quality of players he can bring in within the budget – and if it means that some decent U-20s have to be ditched, then so be it, even if it looks harsh.
