Keane: £3M Bid For Gordon?

Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

The Black Cats’ manager Roy Keane has apparently been an admirer of the Scotland number one since his short spell as a player with Celtic and as
his side gear up for a crack at the Premiership, he clearly sees the position of goalkeeper as a critical one.

However, reports are also suggesting that Sunderland would only be prepared to pay around £3 million for any such transfer, a bid that would get nowhere near Hearts’
valuation of the player. There is also no guarantee that Gordon would even want to sign for Sunderland, as a player of his ability could easily get a game for one of the more established sides in the English Premiership. Having said that though, there is no doubt that Sunderland are a great club with a massive following and they definitely do have the
potential to be in the top half of that division. Whether Gordon would consider this though, is anyone’s guess.

We’ll see how this progresses, but the early signs are that it’s a non-starter.

I agree MrH, this is a non starter. Must be a slow news day!

Unless it’s just an opening gambit?

No question they’d up their bid (they’d have to, to be honest), but I think it’s more of a non-starter because Gordon is clearly holding out to go to a really big club. Sunderland can’t offer him what he craves.

If we are to be honest an SPL goalkepper cant really ask for much more than 3million. Celtic could get 10 for Boruc but Boruc is the number 1 for a superior national team and put in some excellent performances in the CL and SPL.
