The return of left back Kevin McHattie to first team duties has suffered a minor set back following his attempted run out for the under 20’s on Monday evening.

The 21 year old has been out since November after picking up a knee injury in the two nil victory over Rangers, and he had been scheduled in for the youth team fixture against St Johnstone.

Unfortunately for the player, he felt his groin tighten up during the warm up to the game and he was immediately withdrawn from the squad as a precaution.

Having come through the youth system, McHattie has so far gone on to make 72 starting appearances for Hearts, with an additional single appearance from the bench. In that time he has returned four goals.

Prior to picking up this injury he had made ten appearances for the club this season, scoring in the victories over Stenhousemuir and Falkirk.
