With Hearts taking a two nil victory in our opening pre season friendly of the summer, head coach Robbie Neilson has said he was largely pleased with the performance as we step up our preparations for the return to the Premiership in 2015-16.

Late goals from Callum Paterson and Soufian El Hassnaoui gave us the comfortable win in the end, but Neilson’s main delight was in the intensity of the game as that’s what he wanted from it.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained.

‘It was a great work out and I`m really pleased. It was a great game to start and really competitive. Bohemians played really well and they worked hard and made it difficult for us. Sometimes when you play pre-season games and the other team is on pre-season it can become relaxed and laid back because nobody is really interested in what they`re putting in, but it there was a really competitive edge to it.’

Neilson went on to say that with a couple of goals and with tackles flying round as well the players would’ve certainly taken a lot from it, and hopefully the supporters would’ve enjoyed it aswell so he’s just hoping we get a similar sort of competitive workout when we face Shelbourne in our second friendly on Saturday.

Trialist Mergim Bajraktari, a Swiss-born Albanian, was somebody who featured in the game for us, and Neilson said that no decisions had been made about him yet as he wanted to have longer to look at him, but he was a versatile proposition for us.

‘Mergim`s come in and he`s been playing in Switzerland for the past few years. We`ll have a look at him. He`s a good player. He can play anywhere across the back four and anywhere across the midfield, so we`ll look at him and see if he can add to the squad. We`ll see him again on Saturday and take it from there.’
