Hearts’ bid to snap up Juwon Oshaniwa has been ongoing this summer but his arrival at Tynecastle is now ‘imminent’ with Head Coach Robbie Neilson confirming a deal is all but done.

When it became obvious that the Nigerian international was leaving his Israeli club FC Ashdod we soon showed an interest but there was also other interest from Scottish clubs and throughout Europe…. But we’ve got him, just about!

The loss of Adam Eckersley, who left at the end of our Championship winning season, will be offset – probably more than offset – by the addition of the 24-year-old left back, who was part of the Nigerian squad at the World Cup Finals last summer.

Nielson has paid tribute to the hard work that himself, Craig Levein, John Murray and his agent have put in to make this happen.

A work permit has been granted by the SFA so we’ve just got to dot the i’s and cross the t’s on his three-year contract.

Following him could be trialist Mergim Bajraktari.

The 22-year-old Swiss-born Albanian was involved in our win over Bohemians in Dublin last night and will be looked at again when we face Shelbourne on Saturday, after which a decision will be made.
