Danny Swanson is no stranger to Scottish Football, afterall he started out here before trying his hand in the English game! But he’s now looking for a return to the Scottish Premiership following his recent release by Coventry, when his contract was terminated ahead of the transfer deadline last week.

A mutual agreement was struck to see him released by the League 1 side so he could find a new club outside of the transfer window closing, which he wouldn’t have been able to otherwise and this has seen him given a chance by Robbie Neilson to earn a deal with Hearts potentially?

Swanson, formerly with Dundee United, has spent time in England with Peterborough and Coventry, but having failed to agree terms with St Johnstone he’s now looking to impress Neilson, which it appears so far he is!

The Jambos boss has been quoted by the Edinburgh News as saying.

‘Danny came in yesterday and he’s here for a few days for us to have a look at him.

‘At the same time, he gets a chance to suss us out and get a look for himself. He did really well at training yesterday so we’ll see how things go over the next few days.’

Neilson’s familiar with Swansea himself from Dundee United days and recalled him being a ‘really talented player’ then. His ‘technique and ability’ impress the boss so he’ll see how ‘the next few days’ go then make a decision.

If he’s, at least, on a par with what we’ve got, but ideally an improvement at least something different, then we’ll bring him in if a deal can be agreed. If he’s not, or terms can’t be agreed, we’ll not! Quite simple really isn’t it!

Neilson added.

‘I remember him from Dundee United when I played there. He’s a really talented player with great technique and ability. He’s been down in England for the last few years and I think he wants to come back to Scotland now. He’s got a kid who is ten months old so I think he’d like to get settled up here.

‘Technically, he is a very good footballer. We’ll look at him more over the next few days but so far he’s done well.’

We’ll see how this one goes?

If he does come in he could well play a part in the third round of the Scottish League Cup against Kilmarnock later in the month? If he’s up to speed by the time this game is played at 7:45pm on Wednesday 23rd September.

Ticket details for this game at Rugby Park have been revealed on the Official Website with the tickets priced as follows:-
