Hearts’ Scottish Premiership season continued with a defeat against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.

A chance to close the gap on Aberdeen, when they were beaten again, was missed by Hearts as our disappointing run against Motherwell continued in this one-nil defeat.

Defeat extends our winless run at Fir Park to seven-matches and was in complete contrast to the thrashing we dished out earlier in the year.

Lionel Ainsworth put Motherwell ahead just before the half hour mark when he fired past Neil Alexander to score what proved to be the winner for Well; who have risen from one that were a relegation threatened side to fourth (some way behind us though).

Chances to level, if not win the match, came and went for Hearts with Jamie Walker, Prince Buaben and Arnaud Djoum having our best opportunities that none could take them.

Louis Moult and Scott McDonald were both guilty of spurning great chances for Motherwell too that would have made absolutely sure, not that it mattered in the end as the opportunity for Hearts to reduce the deficit to second placed Aberdeen to five-points was missed.

Motherwell’s Craig Samson did make some saves, the best one from Walker, but not enough seriously tested the ‘keeper.

This remains at eight-points with four-matches to play.

These were the other results.
