Hearts’ Scottish Premiership season continued with a goalless draw against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Saturday, with most of the game played with 10-men by the Jambos.

Juanma saw red, quite literally before he did anyway, with him sent off for a headbutt on David Wotherspoon, with him unhappy with his challenge, on the half hour mark so Hearts had to battle through against the fourth placed Saints to earn a point.

St Johnstone had a great chance to win it when Chris Kane was brought down by Miguel Pallardo, which gave the Saints a penalty but Steven MacLean fired the spot kick over the crossbar!

That penalty miss and some fine saves from Neil Alexander in the Hearts goal ensured the Jambos went home with a point and retained third place ahead of St Johnstone but more ground was lost on Aberdeen after this first nil-nil draw between the sides in 15-years.

These were the other results.

Saturday 19th December 2015
Celtic 1-2 Motherwell
Dundee 4-0 Hamilton
Inverness CT 2-2 Dundee Utd
Kilmarnock 0-4 Aberdeen
Partick Thistle 1-0 Ross County
St Johnstone 0-0 Hearts

A surprise two-one win for Motherwell at Celtic Park was easily the standout results of the weekend, which meant Celtic’s lead at the top was cut to a point with Aberdeen winning four-nil at Kilmarnock meaning the Dons are now only one-point off the top again going into Christmas.

Dundee were four-nil winners against Hamilton with Partick also collecting a good one-nil win at home against Ross County.
