Hearts duo Nerijus Barasa and Bruno Aguiar are set to spend more time on the sidelines through injury than first thought.

Aguiar is expected to be absent for up to another month, which is a big blow now that we no longer have Paul Hartley. Kingston has done very well in his short time with the club, but if Hearts are so determined not to make proper use of Brellier, the injury to Aguiar considerably weakens out midfield.

However it is the injury to Barasa that appears to be causing more concern, with the indications being that he could well be out for the season.

Valdas Ivanauskas told the official Hearts website:

‘It’s very unfortunate. He (Barasa) hasn’t had much luck with injuries since he came to the club.

‘His injury hasn’t been improving very much so we feel an operation is the best way forward.

‘He is due to have the surgery next week in England and then faces about 12 to 16 weeks out of action, which is obviously very bad luck for the player.’

This is indeed a shame for the lad, although I’m not convinced that he was worth his place in the team when he was in ahead of Neilson and Tall. He’s nowhere near as bad a player as some fans would have you believe, but in my view no better than either of the other full-backs I’ve just mentioned. Which makes him pretty average doesn’t it?!

All the best to both in their respective recoveries though.

Well, at least there is still some good news coming out of Tynecastle. Shame for Aguiar though as I think he’ll work well with Kingston. I hope Barasa recovers well and has a long football career somewhere else.
