Brellier – Celtic Link

There’s a rumour doing the rounds this morning that Celtic are sniffing around the potential availability ot Julien Brellier in the January transfer
window.

Brellier’s situation at Tynecastle is probably the most talked-about subject on this site at the moment as it is, quite frankly, an absolute disgrace the way
that the man’s being treated. It does not surprise me one bit that the likes of Celtic may be interested as the guy is clearly a class act and arguably the best in the country in his position. In other words, someone that you should be bending over backwards to keep, not offload to one of your main rivals!

Celtic are supposedly looking for him as a possible replacement for Neil Lennon. This would make a lot of sense, as both essentially play in exactly the same position. Lennon’s getting on a bit now and you have to wonder how much longer he can continue at the top level, so it’s only natural that Celtic should be looking at players of a similar style. In my opinion Brellier would fit the bill for them perfectly, especially as a lot of the bookings he receives at Hearts would become null and void if he became a Celtic player :o). However, with Celtic likely to be in the Champions League after Christmas, I reckon Lennon will stick around until at least the end of the season, so they could make their move then instead.

As much as it sticks in my throat to say it, if Brellier ends up leaving Hearts for Celtic and seriously comes back to haunt us, Hearts and Romanov will have gotten what they deserved. You can’t treat a man like they are just now and expect him to remain loyal, no matter how popular he is with the supporters.

It really is about time the Hearts management got a grip and started appreciating the talent that they still retain, as they won’t own it for much longer if the current policy continues.

As a Celtic fan I have always liked the look of Brellier. I know he is very popular amongst the Hearts supporters but for some bizarre reason best known to deranged leader, he doesn’t seem to play. It would not surprise me if Strachan is looking at him.

I think the guy is excellent and often the difference between us being an average and a decent side. Has arguably more football than Lennon and is harder!

Because he (quite rightly IMO) won’t sign a new deal under the current regime, he’ll go for buttons too. He’s in the same position as Beslija, Makela, Aguiar and others… those who have proven themselves capable in the first team but get overlooked game after game. It’s a shambles to play Tall in that role as he’s clearly not suited to it, but I guess it’s all part of Romanov/Malofeev’s “sophisticated” hoof-ball approach. :-/

Not convinced Beslija or Makela have proved themselves yet to be honest, although being fair to them they’ve rarely, if ever, been given back-to-back matches!
