Hearts had written to the SFA requesting them to consider Murrayfield as an alternative venue, but this has been rejected in favour of the national stadium. Whether the decision would have been different had Hibs shown the same enthusiasm for the switch as their capital neighbours is anyone’s guess, but it’s something we’ll probably never know.
The decision is one which everyone should respect now and deal with, despite the obvious drawbacks of the match being in Glasgow. Yes it’s a shame that Edinburgh has missed the opportunity to host a major football event and yes the potential for chaos on the roads and crowd trouble exists, but fans of both clubs will still hopefully turn out in big numbers to fill Hampden on the day. If things do go pear-shaped however, it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, takes responsibility.
The Hearts Supporters Trust are still trying to find ways to sway the decision, but are continuing with “hope rather than expectation now”.
Here’s to a great game with a great atmosphere……….and a Hearts win obviously!

Looks like Hibs are one up already
As far as the players are concerned it won’t really matter where it’s played. This argument was all about the fans.
If hearts can play to their potential i am sure most of them will agree that we can look forward to another cup final. MrT
Aye but anything can happen it derbies……and in cup ties! So by my reckoning that makes this one pretty darned unpredictable Mr T!
