Hearts Held At Falkirk, But…

….overall you would have to say that results elsewhere this weekend have now put us in a slightly stronger position than we were in the race to finish third in the SPL.

Falkirk and Hearts ground out a 0-0 draw at the Falkirk Stadium yesterday, a venue that Hearts have now failed to win at for four years. Despite having several chances to put this game out of sight, particularly in the first half, Hearts had to settle for a point against a side who could justifiably take the title of our ‘bogey team’ for this season, especially given the fact that they knocked us out of the cup at Tynecastle not so long ago.

However with Aberdeen losing at Parkhead (not entirely unexpected) and Dundee United very surprisingly being held 0-0 at home by Kilmarnock, Hearts remain five points clear in third as we go into the final round of post-split fixtures, which are due to be announced later on today. Therefore you would have to say that the point we picked up yesterday possibly wasn’t the worst result that we’ve ever had in the grand scheme of things, even if Falkirk have really been struggling this season.

Match report at Falkirk to follow, as well as some discussion on the post-split fixtures when they are announced…
