Hearts’ No 29 Goes Home

Well, in the aftermath of last night’s disappointing result at Motherwell, at least there was some good news today when the club revealed that Audrius Ksanavicius is returning to FBK Kaunas.

I’ve nothing against the wee guy – ‘Kee-saan-evi-chooss’ did have a fair bit of skill and decent awareness, but to me he epitomised much of what has been wrong (and still continues to be) with the Hearts side over the past couple of years. The bottom line was that he was just far too lightweight, a ‘quality’ that too many of his Tynecastle team-mates have tended to share with him in the Romanov era.

Thankfully it would now appear as though our colourful owner’s days of picking the team himself are behind him (for now anyway), and although Csaba has his critics, I think we can all agree that we’re happier with him predominantly in charge than someone with a background in banking…..or any other ‘anking’ you care to mention for that matter!

Good luck to wee Ksanavicius, but I think his one goal return from 37 appearances as an attacking midfielder/striker does go some way to telling you that he wasn’t the most effective player we’ve ever had.

Interesting note about Csaba picking the team I noticed that the press got their knickers in a twist about him saying he speaks to Romanov weekly, when I am pretty sure this is standard throughout the footballing world. It has to be said I saw Audrey a couple of times and was impressed.
