Hearts Pre-Season Farce

Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon has reportedly hit out at the club’s owners once again, this time for what he perceives as poor preparation for the season ahead.

The pre-season tour of Austria and Germany continued on Saturday with a 1-1 draw with German club Rot Weiss Essen (Pospisil scored for Hearts), but it seems that all has not been well behind the scenes with regards to the training methods being used by the coaching staff. This has shown with the mediocre performances so far on the tour.

Gordon’s concerns, although he has not directly admitted so, would be appear to be aimed at the fact that Eduard Malofeev is having an influence on the first team once again. This is the man brought in my Vladimir Romanov last season because of his ‘vast experience’ in the game, who failed to win a single match during his time as manager when Valdas had gone AWOL, reducing the first team training sessions to little more than a joke according to several first team players. Surely we can’t have this again?

Romanov had promised the fans that Malofeev would not be part of the coaching staff again after last season’s debacle, so what the hell is going on? Any time he comes near the squad things turn to ****, so it surely isn’t difficult to see what needs to be done here?

Then there is the issue of Hearts not really having a manager yet. Stevie Frail and Korobochka have seemingly done a half-decent job of uniting a disconsolate and divided first team squad, but I’m afraid that Hearts need better than this. They need a proven, experienced management team who have the ability to really get things going. With all due respect to Frail and Korobochka, I don’t think they have the necessary credentials….certainly not at this moment in time anyway. One or both of them should probably be retained in the some capacity, but they cannot be our primary management team.

As for Malofeev, we should all be chipping in to top up the man’s pension to give him enough cash to buy his own little island somewhere. Preferably as far away from here as possible, so somewhere in the deep south Pacific Ocean is sounding good.

Worrying times? I think so…..

    Malofeev GTF.

Yes…Malofeev persuaded Romanov to employee him of course!

The whole club is pretty much a face. And as for Gordon, he has loyalty anyway, he was one of the richaton 3 who sat with SP and PH yet when he was handed the captaincy he was quick to dismiss his role in that pact! What a little weasel, he always gave that impression anyway.

Get a grip rk1888. Clearly you know nothing about the “richaton 3” (whatever that is…) or the issues behind the statement. Craig dismissed nothing. In fact, he was in constant contact with Pressley about it and it was both Elvis’ and Zico’s wish that he take the captaincy – in order to ensure that there was still a Scottish captain at the club after they left. Your opinion of Craig Gordon is of no consequence, thankfully… and says far more about you than anything else.

All Gordon did after that press conference was stay silent publicly, which was probably quite wise in retrospect. As club captain though, he is justified in voicing his concerns and let’s face it, these concerns ARE valid, just as the “riccarton 3″‘s were.

Gordon needs to join a professional outfit where he can prosper and be valued

Gordon is valued at £10 million. Isn’t that enough? 😉

  • Craig Cain says:

That’s a notional market value as an asset – not really what I’m talking about.

Gordon is right to be worried, as are the fans. As we’ve said before, this season is a pivotal one for Hearts, one where a lot of questions will be answered. I just hope we like the answers!

I know that CC, hence the smiley. 🙂
