Hearts finally managed to record their first victory of the SPL season tonight when they defeated Kilmarnock 1-0 at Tynecastle.
In an entertaining 90 minutes, the home side had enough chances to win five or six matches, but in the end it was Andy Driver’s spectacular goal on the half-hour mark that ended up being the difference between the teams.

Indeed we should have scored 3 or 4 in the second half, if only we could hit the target (Csaba – get these guys learning how to keep the ball down when shooting !!). Mind you, we were outplayed for 30 mins in the 1st half, and went ahead against the run of play. Still, 3 points were the most importnt thing tonight – some good performances from Jose and Ruben, as well as Suso and Driver.
I agree Specs – the 3 points are so important at the moment – but I’m worried about the lack of conversion – not being there (from other side of planet!!) did we play 2 up front or just 1? Happy to see defence not leaking though.
Actually, AussieJ, at times we had ZERO up front – Glen, Driver and Suso tending to drop back a bit… although all 3 quickly broke forward as soon as we had possession. Personally, I thought it worked better than the old “lump it to Nade” tactic. You’re right about the poor conversion rate – Csaba even cut his hand thumping the advetising board in frustration !!
