Hearts Seven Clear In Third

Hearts went seven points clear of the chasing pack in the race for finishing in the SPL top three this afternoon after they convincingly saw off Jim Jefferies’ Kilmarnock at Tynecastle.

Callum Elliot was the man who did most of the damage, turning in a confident performance leading the home attack and scoring two good ‘strikers’ goals into the bargain.

The 3-1 margin of victory really could have been much more embarrassing for the visitors, but it was enough to put Hearts another two points clear of the pack, after Dundee Utd and Aberdeen were both held to draws.

What a superb performance by Calum Elliot. I’ve certainly been one of his detractors (though I did stop short of booing him) but I’m more than happy to eat humble pie and give credit where it’s most certainly due. Biggest difference for me was his attitude in that when fouled he just picked himself up and got on with it rather than having a petulant strop. There’s still a way to go but a good start Calum.
