Hearts have reportedly reached an agreement with Inverness Caley Thistle to sign their midfield player Ian Black.
The Scotsman are saying that Black, who had fruitful discussions with Csaba Laszlo last week regarding a pre-contract signing, has now accepted a deal in principle, and is expected to sign for the club at the weekend, having already completed a routine medical.
Black is not a player that I know a great deal about, having not seen the last few matches that Hearts have played against Caley, however several people I know have often picked him out as a decent talent. He is a good age at 23 though, and signing someone with SPL experience is also a plus.
It’s not yet clear whether or not Hearts want to sign him in January for a fee or free at the end of the season. There’s a suggestion that they may need to stump up around £100K for his services straight away, so you’d be tempted to think that they’d wait until the summer given the current financial climate. You never know though…
Black’s impending contract is said to be valid until the summer of 2012.
This is positive news…..obviously the papers cannot wait to tell us that this will merely accelerate the mass exodus of all our existing tops stars of course, but I’m not so sure about that. Let’s just see what happens….
