Liverpool’s Neil Mellor could be heading to Hearts according to reports today.

The young striker is currently out of favour at Anfield and is desperate for first team action. He has also had a tough time with injuries in recent times and has just returned after nine months out.

Mellor’s agent Mick McGuire said: ‘I will be speaking to Liverpool to see how they are looking at things. The last time we spoke they were only prepared to consider loan offers and I haven’t heard anything more than that.’

McGuire also said if Hearts were interested in signing Mellor then he would certainly take it seriously.

Meanwhile Hearts have made a bid for Mirsad Beslija of Racing Genk winger Mirsad Beslija according to his representative.

His agent Sam Stapleton said: ‘Hearts have made an offer to buy the player with Sunderland and Leeds also looking at the option of a loan, he’s one of the quickest players in Belgium and I’m not surprised that he is generating some interest.’

‘A decision will be made by the player once he has all the options put in front of him.’

In other news, Hearts’ Paul Hartley will face trial by television after he allegedly kicked out at Celtic’s Ross Wallace.

The incident was missed by referee Iain Brines but was picked up by TV cameras. A panel will review the incident early next week.
