Heading into the weekend Robbie Neilson, and his assistant Stevie Crawford, gave us a major boost (that was followed up by a win against Kilmarnock) by putting pen to paper on new contracts with the club.

The Hearts management duo will now remain in charge until the end of season 2017/18 season at least with chairwoman Ann Budge telling the Official Website, which she’s spot on about, about this being a ‘win-win’ for all concerned.

‘This is a win-win for everyone – the club, the players and the supporters. By continuing to pull together, I am confident we will achieve our goals.’

Neilson came in to replace Gary Locke in the summer of 2014, which of course came after our administration and relegation from the Premiership, with him winning the Championship by a country mile in his first year in charge with him taking us to third in the topflight.

Former Hearts (and of course Scotland) boss Levein left after four-years in charge to take over at could be English Premier League Champions Leicester in 2004 with him the Director of Football at Tynecastle now.

He added.

‘We came in with a long term plan, we’re ahead of schedule and very happy with the progress our coaching team has made.’

The main man himself, Head Coach and former player Neilson of course, himself finished by saying.

‘Stevie and I are very happy to have extended our contracts. We are both young coaches with a lot to learn, and while we’ve enjoyed some real success, we want to deliver more for the supporters.’

A Premiership winning bid is something Neilson’s targeting going forward, which if we can build on this fine first season back in the topflight why shouldn’t this be on in the future!

With him in charge I’ll not bet against it will you?
