The ‘Happy Season’ Has Started!

It’s clearly the ‘happy season’ if this morning’s reports about David Obua potentially signing for Birmingham City for in excess of £1million are anything
to go by.

The Ugandan midfielder (or sorry, should I say ‘utility man’?!) has struggled since his arrival at Tynecastle, with a combination of injuries and an apparent inability to adjust to the speed
of the game in Scotland proving to be a real problem.

Obua took a fair amount of stick for his performance against Dundee United on Saturday, even despite the fact that he was being asked to play on his own in attack, which is clearly not a position that
suits him. However even allowing for that, the guy just did not offer anything – no touch, no genuine graft (graft not draft!) in a position that demands it……..just nothing. In the end he picked up a knock and had to go off injured once again, which pretty much sums up his time at Tynecastle so far.

The early signs are that the injury will keep Obua out of action for the festive period, as his manager Csaba Laszlo confirmed:

‘It looks like a groin strain,’ he said. ‘It might keep him out for a couple of weeks but it is a little early to speak about such things as I don’t think we’ll get the results of the scans until Tuesday.’

Whether or not Obua is genuinely on the likes of Alex McLeish’s January wishlist is anyone’s guess of course, as is the whole transfer situation at Tynecastle, but at the moment I don’t think you’d get too many Hearts supporters being overly disappointed if this move did come to fruition. Quite the opposite in fact, especially if the club end up receiving a seven-figure sum into the bargain!

Real shame, as I had high hopes for this guy. But then, I had high hopes for Pinilla and Beslija too. The most worrying thing is that he is Csaba’s signing.

Maybe I’m a lone voice but I think we may be expecting too much too soon from Obua. Granted he’s hardly hit the ground running but it must be tough to be so far away from home and (perhaps) family – I’d like to see how he gets on for the rest of the season and look to offload in the summer if he’s still not performing as expected.

David Obua is a friend of mine on Facebook. Seriously. Look him up and add him if you’re on there, he doesn’t appear to be picky. If you read his profile, and the things he writes / has written to him, there’s no way you’d think he was “adjusting” to life in Scotland. If you ask me, he’s goofing off and should be binned ASAP. If we can get a million quid for him, so much the better.

If we believe all the reports then by this time next month only Robbie Neilson will be left at Tynecastle… Of course, if I listen to the Gers supporter who sits next to me at work then even he will be gone as he reckons Wally is on the prowl to sign him and the rest of the back 4 or 5 at Tynie… I need to have a look at Obua’s facebook page then.

Who do you believe? Facebook or the Scottish media? Hmm…..

Maube Obua is trying to win over the fans by becoming their friend on Facebook, then !! You don’t also have Clum and Makela on your Facebook friends list, do you SJ ?
