Although no official announcement has been made on Valdas Ivanauskas’ position as Hearts Head Coach, the club have confirmed that he is due to meet Vladimir Romanov today.

All a club spokesman would say was: ‘Mr Romanov is meeting with Valdas Ivanauskas in Lithuania today.’ However many media sources are claiming that no decision on his future has been made as yet.

As Stonesy rightly pointed out yesterday though, I can hardly imagine that Valdas has been invited to Romanov’s one bedroom flat in Lithuania to discuss his next pay rise! Something is clearly going on behind the scenes and I’d be very surprised if something hasn’t been radically changed by the end of the week.

I’d be interested to know what Hearts fans are currently thinking about Romanov these days. We will always be thankful to him for what he brought to the club after the Chris Robinson days, but I surely can’t be the only Jambo who’s getting more than a little fed up with some of the nonsense that goes on with meddling in first team affairs?

Last season was a fantastic chance for Hearts to win their first league title since the ’60s and they blew it due to a series of poor decisions by those in charge of the club. This season is taking almost exactly the same pattern…yes we haven’t started as well as we did last season, but we were still in a very good and challenging position until the past two matches, where our ludicrous team selection gave the opposition their chance to beat us.

The Old Firm will not continue to be as poor as they are for much longer and Hearts’ chances are running out. In fact this season I think it’s possibly too late already. It’s a shame because we might never truly know just how good our squad of players could have made us.

Let’s hope that something positive comes out of Valdas’ talks today…..that would be a nice surprise.
