What Will Happen Next?

We seem to have all-of-a-sudden arrived at a particularly uneventful week in the world of Hearts haven’t we? Well, relative to the norm that is!

Up until very recently there has literally been something worth commenting on coming out of or in relation to our club since probably the start of the season when Csaba Laszlo first took over. But although there is clearly a LOT going on behind the scenes in terms of potential comings and goings before the end of the transfer window, and of course the team’s preparation for this weekend’s game against manager-less Inverness, things just seem to have gone extremely quiet.

What will be the next development I wonder? A couple of predictable new signings from Kaunas perhaps? The much-touted sale of Larry Kingston to a club in England? Or some of his team-mates moving in that direction instead earlier than many of us are expecting? A recognised striker with proven SPL experience like Chris Porter signing for the famous?

There’s definitely a lot that could happen in a very short space of time, and it’s almost certainly going to be the usual case of complete chaos as the transfer window slowly ticks away to its conclusion. I’d like to think that Hearts would be in the thick of the action this year looking to enhance their chances of finishing this season with a flourish, which would definitely help to soften the blow of some of our top players possibly leaving in the summer, if of course that particular Scottish press fantasy ever does come to fruition. We can but hope for the best on that front.

So…come on….let’s see some positive action….this sitting and waiting is a nightmare!

We will bring in new players only when we sell one first, the big clearout will be in the summer.

Be careful what you wish for, MrH. A quiet time following a couple of solid 2-0 wins is Good. I for one am tired of living in interesting times.

  • MrH says:

Bah – if things cease to be interesting then boredom sets in! As for a clearout, I don’t think that’s going to happen unless a series of clubs start throwing silly money our way.

I’m sure your view is one shared by journos the length and breadth of Goven, MrH ! It must be so frustrating for them right now. Heh.

Hmm well to be honest these guys should have plenty to write about at the moment given the genuine firesale that IS potentially going to happen in Scottish football – pity they choose to ignore it…..

On the stupid, non-news front. Apparently the club has 4 months to pay the money for Balogh… This has given the press the opportunity to make out the 4 month payment plan to be the equivalent to a Yes Car Credit loan… Bunch of bankers to the w if you ask me. It is common for players to be signed and payment of funds to be made monthly etc. Sometimes you even get a buy now get 12 months interest free on some players… But woe betide the club from Edinburgh that uses this policy.

Given the madness of January 2006, Im happy that we’ve only made 2 purchases so far (Black and Balogh) – although we’d all like to see a 3rd (and maybe 4th) if they are proven strikers. Hopefully the club can convince Bruno to sign another contract – if he can stay injury-free, he’ll become a very valuable asset a year or 2 down the line. Lets hope the frantic action you hope is happening behind the scenes relates to the sale fo Laryea to fund the above !!

I start getting nervous when it goes quiet at this time of year!

The sale of Kingston to facilitate buying a new striker and re-signing Bruno would do me SH!
