Hearts are represented in the latest Scottish Professional Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s Cup action.

The best eleven was selected by Craig Fowler.

The performance by Blazej Augustyn in Hearts’ one nil Scottish Cup victory over Aberdeen at the weekend at Tynecastle was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Scottish League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Augustyn was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the SPFL blurb read.

‘The Polish centre-back’s performance against Aberdeen was night and day compared to the last time the Dons visited Tynecastle. Solid at the back and composed in possession, he was one of many terrific performers in a Hearts team that deservedly booked their place in the last 16.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Augustyn for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course Cup progression.

Full Team:

Jamie MacDonald (Kilmarnock), Blazej Augustyn (Hearts), Peter Watson (Annan Athletic), Ross Smith (Sterling Albion), Rabin Omar (Annan Athletic), Stephen Pearson (Motherwell), Josh Falkingham (Dunfermline Athletic), Barrie McKay (Rangers), Faissal El Bakhtaoui (Dunfermline Athletic), Leigh Griffiths (Celtic), Martyn Waghorn (Rangers).
