The appointment of new manager Csaba Laszlo has encouraged more Hearts fans to bite the bullet and ‘give it one more year’ at Tynecastle.

The club are now reporting that season ticket sales have passed through the 10,000 mark, and with three weeks still to go before the new season starts, they are also confident that that figure can be improved upon, especially if Laszlo can bring in some encouraging new signings between now and then.

A spokesman for the club said:

‘We are naturally delighted to have secured a manager with the ambition and experience of Csaba Lazlo and it appears that the supporters are also welcoming the appointment. The rate of new season tickets sales is up and we have broken through the 10,000 mark with another three weeks before the start of the season.

‘This shows us that supporters are responding to Csaba’s call that everyone with a passion for Hearts sticks together.

‘With the new manager in place, some of our brightest young talent signed on new contracts and what is likely to be a packed Tynecastle once again, we are all looking forward to the new season with optimism.’

The usual banging of the drum comments that we’ve become accustomed to from the Hearts marketing people then, but if Csaba can start walking the walk to go along with some of the chat he’s been giving to the Scottish media, then perhaps Hearts can have a slightly more fruitful season than many of us anticipated. Let’s hope so.

I guess its not surprising. A lot of fans were basically saying “no manager, no renewal from me”. Our expectations have been lowered so much through having incompetent “non-managers” in charge of the team over the last 2 years that having someone now who acts like a manager and talks like a manager has got us all fired up with hope !!

We’re still well down on last year though, which shouldn’t surprise anyone either really. A couple of decent signings would probably inspire a few more who are still deliberating…
