Kevin McHattie and Gary Oliver have both departed Tynecastle this week, and our League Cup Kilmarnock date has been set.

Kevin McHattie has left the club following a mutual termination of the remainder of his contract.

Not being in head coach Robbie Neilson’s thoughts, the left back has been released so he can more easily find a new club and get more first team football under his belt.

Having signed for the club aged 17 and made his debut back in August 2011, he has since played 80 times for the club and speaking to the Official Site as news of his departure was announced he explained that he leaves with fond memories but relishing a new challenge now.

‘I`ve loved every minute here, it`s been fantastic. I`ll leave here with some great memories, not least winning the title last year. I`ll miss this place, no doubt about that. It`s time for a new challenge now and I`m looking forward to getting first team football. But for now I`d like to take the chance to thank the staff, my team mates and the fans for all their support.’

Gary Oliver was the second departure, but he makes the move to Queen of the South for an undisclosed fee.

Having made his debut in the Scottish League Cup tie against Raith Rovers back in August 2013 he leaves having made 25 appearances for us.

Speaking himself about the move, he said.

‘I just want to say thank you to the Hearts fans, coaches and staff. I’m leaving with many good memories and I’ll miss the lads in the dressing room. I’m now looking forward to my new challenge at Queen of the South and playing regular football.’

As for the SLC date against Kilmarnock, the third round tie has been listed for 7.45pm at Rugby Park on Wednesday September 23.
