Elvis Back At Tynecastle In February?

It looks as though our former Scottish Cup-winning captain will be strutting his stuff at Tynecastle once again in the next round of this season’s competition when Falkirk are the visitors.

The Bairns have announced that Steven Pressley has signed for them until the end of this season, and you would therefore imagine that he’ll now take at least some part in the forthcoming Scottish Cup fourth round tie at Tynecastle.

As we all know, there is still a very much divided opinion within the Hearts support on Pressley since his departure from Tynecastle a couple of years ago. There was once a time when this guy could do very little wrong in the eyes of your average Jambo, but certain antics during a match for Celtic at Tynecastle soon after he departed left a very bad taste in the mouth for some, and there are those who still feel rather bitter about it to this day.

It will therefore be very interesting to see what sort of reception Elvis gets in this game if he plays. The last time I saw him at Tynecastle was when he took part in Robbie Neilson’s testimonial match at the end of last season, and generally he received a really good ovation that day. However it could well be different when we’re talking about a competitive match, and there will also be considerably more people at this game that the hardcore who turned out for Robbie.

The potential appearance of Elvis (that sounds a bit Daily Sport-ish doesn’t it?!) will most surely add a little bit of extra spice to a tie that already promises to be a cracker, and with Hearts announcing very reasonable prices for the match on their website today, I’d be very surprised if we didn’t get very close to a full house for this. Hopefully if the TV companies do decide to cover it live though and it gets switched away from Saturday Feb 7 at 3pm, they choose a reasonable time for it to be re-scheduled for, as the last thing we want is a similar turnout to the Hibs support at Easter Road last Sunday!

Looking forward to this one…<

Good for Elvis, getting to link up with his pal Neil McCann once again.. Yogi has turned into the Alex McDonald of the 21st century, buying loads of old guys to help his young players. I’ve read comments from some of the “Ehlvis haters” on JKB – quite pathetic points of view in my opinion – but maybe they’re all 20 year-olds who actually think that when a player kisses the badge, he actually means it. I’ll always have great respect for Mr P, regardless of whose jersey he wears.

Indeed, I do respect him as a football player and they way he stood up for what he obviously thought were right during those horrible chaotic days. I’m not sure about his current capabilities in the long run, he’s not getting any younger (I think he is on his way out of playing and into full time coaching), but you can bet that he’ll put in 250% when he plays at Tyncastle. There is not a football player around who doesn’t want to shine when they come back to their old club and I am looking forward to the added spice!

I’ve got no issue with him playing for any other club – including Celtic. My only slight disappointment was his chest thumping antics immediately after that Hearts/Celtic game which I thought were a bit disrespectful to the majority of the Hearts support. I arrived early that day to specifically get a chance to applaud him and I thought he got a pretty decent reception – boos during the game but once the whistle goes anyone is fair game. Perhaps it was all heat of the moment and I’m happy to forgive and forget and hail him as a very influential Hearts player. This cup tie should indeed be a cracker, the “tie of the round” once more?

He’s still a Hearts legend, but just like an estranged wife, you can’t always be civil. What was once loved has been tarnished.

Hmm – something you wish to get off your chest there Stockport?! 🙂

One good thing in our favour here is that he always was and is bound to still be a pretty average defender….and he can’t be particularly quick these days either!

Not at this time, itsnomarooned. 🙂
