Hearts Edge Out Inverness

Hearts managed to grind out a 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tynecastle yesterday, but I’m assured that I picked an excellent weekend to miss out on the football!

I’m told that the game was absolutely dire and that it was a victory that Hearts scarcely deserved, but I suppose given the disappointment of the cup match last week then any win has to be seen as a good thing. We’ll take it, even if it was a struggle.

The biggest talking point again was Craig Gordon being dropped from the squad, but perhaps we should try and focus on any positives that can be taken from the game.

Firstly, it was good to see Michal Pospisil scoring the winner yesterday. He ran his guts out at East End Park last week and was extremely unlucky not to score. He is a player who, unlike many others at Tynecastle, always appears very keen and eager to do his best, so it’s good to see him getting some reward for his efforts.

Secondly, I’m told that ‘Larry’ Kingston had a fine match for Hearts in midfield. He looked a decent footballer at East End Park but I felt that the pace of the game got to him as that match entered its final stages, but by all accounts he looked a real player yesterday and could well prove to be a top quality acquisition. Let’s hope so.

Finally, and I know we all want Gordon to be playing in the team, I think we should give a bit of credit to Steve Banks. That man has come into the side in very controversial circumstances and it would be very easy for him to have crumbled and not done himself justice. Well, despite not being the goalkeeper that Craig Gordon is, he’s let no-one down and his attitude and performances to date have been a credit to the man.

With Rangers winning today, Hearts remain five point adrift of second place. I know that many Jambos are very pessimistic about our chances of catching them, but we have to remember that they are every bit as bad as we are, in fact they are probably worse. Let’s not even talk about Aberdeen!

Let’s keep our heads up…..for now!

I can imagine. You rate Kingston?

Yes. If I was being critical….and I often am lets be honest….I would say he looks a touch lightweight for the bigger games. However, he stood out as the best player on the pitch for me. Hearts are a collection of players, not a team. Both the fans and the playes are depressed. I can’t stress how awful the game was….and you just can’t see the heart returning anytime soon.

Boris Hoofalot in the dugout at the start of the match might have had something to do with the players’ mood. :-/

They have been a collection of players for some time sadly. They badly need a top manager in there to get them bonded, but when is that likely to happen?
