Hearts’ Injury Problems Mounting

Hearts’ injury woes appear to be slowly but surely eating into manager Csaba Laszlo’s first team plans, with today’s news that Marius Zaliukas will be out of action for another 6-8 weeks with an ankle problem headlining the list of problems that the gaffer has on his hands in relation to his players’ fitness.

The big Lithuanian defender has been dogged all season with this problem, but on the flip side, it would be fair to say that those who have slotted into his central defensive position have done very well, particularly big Jose Goncalves who has been a revelation since returning from Germany this season. So we can just about live with Zaliukas’ continued absence.

Elsewhere though, there are no shortage of absentees as Hearts travel to Motherwell tomorrow on SPL duty. Winger Suso Santana could be about to start a three-week lay-off to have surgery on a hernia, while Larry Kingston (surprise, surprise!) and Ian Black are struggling to make the Fir Park encounter with hamstring injuries. Long term absentees Calum Elliot and David Templeton continue to be out of action.

So Csaba doesn’t exactly have his troubles to seek on the team selection front, but he will still be hoping that his side can end a so far positive week on a high with a badly-needed victory at Motherwell tomorrow. A win is long overdue….

Whats going on at Hearts this season? A few fans who I know here in England thought that this season would be a good one but things are looking disappointing at the moment.
