Vladimir Romanov’s latest target to take on the poisoned chalice of the Hearts ‘manager’ position is Hungarian Laszlo Csaba, according to Talk 107.

Csaba is currently in charge of the Ugandan national team, whom it is believed would be looking for in excess of £100,000 in compensation if any deal with Hearts was agreed.

The 44 year-old previous managerial experience with Ferencvaros, for whom he took charge when Hearts reached the group stages of the UEFA Cup a few seasons back. He is the man that John Robertson had a rather heated altercation with on the touchline, so if this move comes to fruition one would have to imagine that any notion of Robbo coming back in some capacity under a new manager would be quickly ruled out!

Csaba is apparently a man in demand, but he confirmed that Hearts and Romanov had been in touch. He said:

‘It’s true the Hearts owner would like me to be his new coach.

‘I know Mr Romanov very well and that he’s had some problems recently with his coaches.

‘But I’ve got a contract with Uganda until 2010 and I would like to go to the African Cup of Nations and maybe even the World Cup with this team.

‘Still, anything can happen and if Hearts really like me they should speak next to the president at the Ugandan federation.

‘In the last three weeks there have been approaches from a club side in South Africa and a European national team would also like me as coach, so Hearts is only one of three good offers I’ve received.

‘But it would be a very good thing to work in the UK, which is respected as the home of football, and I know the SPL is a really good championship. I also enjoyed working at club level with Borussia Munchengladbach and Ferencvaros.’

This is another guy who would appear to be classed in the ‘proper manager’ category, so with that in mind you’d have to imagine that he’ll end up turning Hearts down, especially if he’s sold the position in a similar way to when Jurgen Rober was interviewed for the job. We’ll see…

I really don’t know what to say. I feel like we should all stop talking about managers until he bloody appoints someone. Hopefully a deathly silence might speed things up because we can muse about all the other mishaps. Although I must say this Goncalves deal seems to work well from a business point of view.

It is getting boring isn’t it? Maybe we should all slip into denial again and kid on that everything’s all right……then again……
