Hearts’ ‘Miko’ To Move?

Hearts winger Saulius Mikoliunas is being linked with a quickfire move to Swedish side Djurgarden.

‘Miko’, the man that many Hearts fans still seem to love to hate (along with the entire football-loving Scottish nation it seems!), has struggled to maintain the excellent form that he showed when he first moved to this country.

We can trace his loss of form back to the infamous incident involving a certain linesman called Andy Davis, which saw Miko earning a five-game ban for squaring up to him after a truly horrendous decision. Since returning from that suspension he has been a fraction of the player that he promised to be, and given his new reputation as public enemy number one after his theatrics at Hampden for his country, Miko certainly hasn’t found it easy going in Scotland.

Personally I still think that the lad has something to offer is properly coached, but I do tend to think that he would do himself a favour by moving to another country. He simply has too many enemies here, with match officials being among his fiercest it would seem. Once these guys are against you in such an obvious and extreme way, life is always going to be difficult.

The rumours circulating indicate that if Djurgarden’s interest is genuine, he could move as early as Monday. I’m sure that many would be quite happy about that, but we’ll just have to wait and see…..

This story has come out of nowhere – so we are facing the prospect of losing Miko at a time when he is now one of the better-performing players in the squad (which is an indictment of the rest of them, actually). I agree with Mr. H – the lad definitely has talent. However he just seems unable to channel it towards benefitting the team. However, as it supports the general reduction of the size of the squad, then I welcome it.

I always thought Miko was a good player but just made the wrong decisions at the wrong time, passes when he should take on and vice versa. however, against Dundee Utd he really turned it up a notch, probably because Vlad the Rad was there.
