Hearts To Play At Livingston?

I see that some rumours are flying around that Hearts are considering switching their home matches to Livingston next season.

Many fans have already said they wouldn’t buy a season ticket if we moved to Murrayfield, but what would they say if the decision was made to use Almondvale? Surely the same? I can understand that if Tynecastle really can’t be used next season (and apparently it IS still an option being considered), that we need to look at all the options available to us, but I just can’t see people wanting to trek out to Livingston every second week, particularly as there are many already a bit disillusioned with what’s going on at the club. This might just be the final straw for some of those currently on the fence about renewing.

If they can manage to work something, I still think that continuing to play at Tynecastle with the reduced capacity would be the preferred option for the vast majority. But whether or not that can be done is not yet clear. My second choice would controversially be Easter Road, as it’s very similar to Tynecastle in many ways i.e. capacity, pitch size, proximity from Edinburgh City Centre, etc. Obviously most Hearts (and Hibs) fans would probably baulk at the very thought of this, but I don’t have a the pre-occupation with Hibs that many others do and was actually one of the few who believed it made more sense for both clubs to share a new stadium when the idea was touted back in the ’90s. But that’s another argument!

We should find out what’s going to happen soon enough, but I really hope it’s not Almondvale.
