MacFarlane Leaves For Aberdeen

MacFarlane has rarely featured in the Hearts first team squad this season, so it came as little surprise to see him leave. The former Airdrie player negotiated an early release from his contract at Tynecastle and goes straight into the Aberdeen squad to face Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Although never the flashiest player in the world, Neil MacFarlane did a sound job for Hearts during his time at the club. He was very consistent and had a number of outstanding games, particularly against the bigger clubs I felt. He always seemed to be slightly short on self-belief….I’m sure he had the ability to cross the half-way line more than once per match for example!

I’m sure he leaves for the Granite City with best wishes from the majority of Hearts fans.
