Hearts have confirmed that defender Brad McKay has now signed a pre contract agreement with St Johnstone and he will make the move to them when his current contract expires.

The centre half has been at the club since June 2010, making his first team debut in the scoreless draw against Hibernian at Easter Road back in March 2013.

Since then the 21 year old has gone on to make 43 appearances for the club, and head coach Robbie Neilson explained to the Official Site that he believed it would be a good move for the youngster and his search for more regular first team action.

‘I think this will be a good move for Brad. We don’t want to stand in anyone’s way – he wants to be playing more first team games and hopefully he will do that next season.’

The gaffer ends by saying that until he moves on though he has no doubts that McKay will continue to apply himself fully in training, and be ready to perform if he’s called upon.

This season has he only made nine appearances for the club so far.
