MK Dons Interested In Hearts’ Elliot

Hearts striker Callum Elliot could soon be on his way to English League One side MK Dons.

Elliot, singled out for some rough treatment from a large section of the Hearts support last season, is looking for a move away from Tynecastle, and has been strongly linked with SPL side Inverness Caley Thistle over the summer.

However tonight Sky Sports are reporting that Elliot has been given permission to speak to Paul Ince’s former team, which might give the guy the sort of change that he craves.

Wherever Elliot does end up it will be interesting to see how he fares, and also which position he is deployed in. Personally I never saw him as an out-and-out front man, so if that’s what MK Dons are looking for I’d suggest they’re after the wrong man here.

Anyway, we’ll see what develops over the next few days. A move away for Elliot be the best thing for Hearts and the player himself I would think, and perhaps League One will be at a level that will him.

The coaching shambles post Burley has been hard on the all the players – the strikers in particular I think with no real consistency of selection, one up front etc. Every time I see Elliot he looks a very poor player indeed and 3 goals a season (I think I am right in saying) does not a striker make. I don?t think Callum is particularly blessed with talent but poor coaching, zero confidence and a largely hostile (rightly so) crowd have done for him I am afraid. MK Dons seems as good a place as any to start again ? I wish him well.

I agree with both you guys – his best position probably isn’t striker, and he has suffered more than most from the coaching shambles. What do you make of the Screpis saga ? I remember the song and dance he and his agent made in the press in January, saying he had been promised a move to Hearts from Kaunas, even though he was in Argentina. So is the contract that Hearts seem to be cancelling the one he signed prior to joining Kaunas, or is it a new Hearts contract ? Yet again, like Pinilla, someone decides a player is good enough to get a long term contract, then someone else (or maybe the SAME person) decides he’s rubbish ! Just who the hell has been making these conflicting decisions ? Lets hope its Csaba’s decision this time. Interesting that Paul Sturrock wasn’t keen enough to take him after his trial game for Plymouth !!

By the way, don’t you just love today’s Press & Journal headline – “Caley Thistle cool on Elliott following arrival of Rooney” !!! Imagine a manager having to decide between Calum and Wayne – a real tough one. I this casem the Rooney in question is some bloke from Stoke City 3rd team, who has had trials with …. with (wait for it)…. Yeovil Town, Bury and Chesterfield.

Well. we knew Brewster was clearly aiming high when he showed an interest in Clum in the first place! I think it’s great – clubs are fighting over him now. We couldn’t give him away before.
