Head coach Robbie Neilson was a happy man at full time following our four one victory over Alloa Athletic at the weekend.

Having suffered a first loss of the league season to Falkirk in our last game, this was the perfect way for the boys to bounce back and that was what pleased the gaffer most as he spoke to the Official Site.

‘We started the game well, like last week, but crucially we pushed on today. We kept our passing game going, we didn’t panic when Alloa got the goal back and we could have scored a few more than we did.’

With defeat ringing in the ears, Neilson went on to praise the team for putting in a very professional showing to see the game out quite comfortably and then for responding to their goal, but getting ourselves a two goal margin back only five odd minutes later in the game to ruin any lift they might have got.

‘We’ve got lots of players who can score goals, so it’s good to spread them around the team. I was delighted for Miguel to get his first goal today, it was a fantastic strike and Jamie Walker took his goal well too.’

The gaffer went on to say that at two nil, without meaning to, sides can start to coast in games and with that comfort level, become sloppy and before you know it the opposition are more than back in the game, so he was pleased to see us go about the game in ‘the correct manner.’

Of course the win opened the gap again and gave us our biggest lead in the table so far this season, and on that score he added.

‘We’re happy where we are. We’d rather have the points on the board than have games in hand. We have 14 left and our focus is on Livingston next week where we’ll look to give ourselves a 19 point lead.’
