Juwon Oshaniwa had his Hearts signing confirmed ahead of the season opener with St Johnston, which was of course won on our return to the SPL four-three on Sunday, and he’s already looking for big things at Tynecastle.

Oshaniwa doesn’t hide the fact he’s ambitious but whenever his time with the club does come to an end he’s said he wants this to end with him leaving ‘a positive legacy’ behind, telling the BBC.

‘I’ve got my personal target ahead but not presently, I’m in Hearts – it’s how I see myself aiding this team to greater levels.

‘Even if I’m going to leave, I’m going to leave a positive legacy behind.’

Under Robbie Neilson we’ve brought through a plethora, I like that word, of young talent that we’re developing and integrating into the side along with carefully selected players, such as the defender, and he’s well aware of this and the fact sometimes these young talents are plucked away by other clubs – he could end up being one of them?

The 24-year-old, hardly an old hand himself, is looking to help nurture and develop those coming through, which he feels the more experienced players should do anyway.

‘They’ve got a culture of bringing up young players and letting them go. They’ve got some aged players to aid the team, and this is the reason I am here, to help the younger ones to grow.

‘At the end of the day, (the experienced players) make our move and give more room for other people to come again, the culture continues to move.’

The Nigerian international, who finally got his move from Israeli club Ashdod rubbed stamped last week, knows he’s playing catch up at the moment and his progression into the side isn’t one that will be rushed.

However, he added if he’s involved against Dundee on Saturday he doesn’t think this should be a surprise to anyone!
