Pele To Sign For The Hibs?

I had to chuckle when I read that Hibs are interested in signing a player called Steve Pele, who currently plays for French club Grenoble.

What a perfect name for a Hibs player. ‘Leith’s Finest”s brand of football has always been in the true spirit of the beautiful game and let’s face it, the great Brazilian sides of the past clearly modelled their style upon the men from Easter Road. Or so their fans would have us believe anyway!

Pele is apparently one of several French players being looked at by Hibs manager John Collins, who of course will have good knowledge of the game over there after his distinguished spell with Monaco as a player. No doubt he’ll be able to find some decent talent out there and he’ll probably significantly strengthen the Hibs team in the summer. Hopefully he does, because a stronger Hibs does make for a better Scottish league in my opinion.

Signing a guy called Pele could also be an excellent marketing opportunity, too. Just imagine how many Hibs tops with his name on the back could potentially be sold. I’m sure they’d exploit that to the max.

So, Hibs used to have a player called Brazil and now they could be on the verge of signing Pele. Pah…..give me Zico instead any day of the week……..!
